About this rug
The green eyes inside this Gundam-inspired helmet gave me the starting point for the portrait. I wanted the grey panels and orange details to keep their structure around them, so the face still feels mechanical when it's made in yarn. The smaller armour lines are an important part of the design.
I make each keyboard rug by hand using premium acrylic yarn. After tufting, I carefully trim and carve around the panel boundaries and eye shapes. Those angles need attention so the individual sections stay clearly separated in the soft surface.
The green eyes give the mechanical portrait a surprisingly expressive centre. I wanted the panel lines to keep their place around them, so you can enjoy the helmet up close. A mecha fan can give the design a little room at the desk alongside the rest of their collection. The approximate size is 44 × 16 cm, intended as a wrist rest in front of your keyboard. Check the area before ordering. A little mouse rug can be selected separately as an extra.
