About this rug
Alphonse's armour gave me a good reason to try a helmet portrait in yarn. I wanted the grey panels and dark outlines to keep their shape, with the face clearly framed inside them. The helmet has enough small details to make the close-up worth looking at.
I hand-tuft each keyboard rug using premium acrylic yarn. After tufting, I carefully work around the panel boundaries so the individual sections stay separate. The angles and narrow lines need a clear finish, even though the material itself makes a soft surface.
The armour gives Alphonse's portrait plenty to look at once it's on your desk. I wanted those small helmet details to stay part of the handmade piece. If you're collecting Fullmetal Alchemist characters, he can have a little place beside the keyboard where you'll actually see him every day. The approximate size is 51 × 17 cm, so check the longer width against the space in front of your keyboard. The rug works there as a wrist rest. A small mouse rug is available as a separate extra.
